ಅಮೇರಿಕಾ ಹವ್ಯಕರ ಒಕ್ಕೂಟದ (HAA) ೧೮ ನೇ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನ - ಹವ್ಯಕ ಮಿಲನೋತ್ಸವ - ವನ್ನು ಜುಲೈ ೫ ಮತ್ತು ೬, ೨೦೧೯ ರಂದು ಕೆನಡಾದ ಟೊರೊಂಟೊ ನಗರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದೆಂದು ನಿಶ್ಚಯಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ . ಈ ಮಹಾಸಮ್ಮೆಳನದ ಸವಿನೆನಪಿಗಾಗಿ ಸ್ಮರಣ ಸಂಚಿಕೆಗೆ ಹವ್ಯಕ ಬಂಧುಗಳು ತಮ್ಮ ಲೇಖನವನ್ನು ೨೦೧೯ ಮಾರ್ಚ್ ೧ರ ಒಳಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಕೊಡಬೇಕಾಗಿ ಕೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಲೇಖನಗಳು ಪ್ರಬಂಧ, ಕಥೆ, ಪ್ರವಾಸ ಕಥನ, ಅಥವಾ ಕವನಗಳ ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿರಬಹುದು. ಅವಶ್ಯವಿದ್ದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೂಕ್ತ ಫೋಟೋಗಳನ್ನು (B&W) ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿರಬಹುದು. ಲೇಖನಗಳು “ಹವ್ಯಕರ ಪರಂಪರೆ, ಸಂಸೃತಿ, ಭಾಷೆ, ಜನ ಜೀವನ ” ಈ ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನು ಆಧರಿಸಿರಬೇಕು ಅಥವಾ ಸಂಬಂಧಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾಗಿರಲಿ.
Havyaka Association of Americas (HAA) 18th Biennial Convention HAVYAKA MILANOTSAVA will be held in Toronto, Canada on July 5 & 6, 2019. On this occasion, we are planning to publish a souvenir magazine. The HAA Souvenir committee is requesting your articles, research writings and creative work for this publication. We request you to focus on a positive narrative on the heritage of Havyakas, vedas, language, culture and agriculture. Please send your entries before 1st March 2019.
  • Preference will be given to original articles, not published elsewhere. Both Kannada and English articles are welcome. Please feel free to write in any other Indian language.
  • Please keep the articles to a maximum of 3 pages or say 1000-1200 words (stories 4 pages, poems 1 page) typed single space, paragraphs separated by one space, font size 12. 
  • Please send articles in Google-Kannada/English or MS Word. Please include high resolution photos in JPEG.
  • Please send a photo, full name and contact information(email and phone) of the author.
  • Please send articles and creative writing by children on themes including visit to traditional Havika household, temple, farm etc, which will be given importance as well.
  • For publication of “accomplishments” by children please limit the submission to one photo and 150-200 words.

Invitation to Youth:
We are inviting 3 youth reviewers with prior experience in creative writing and editing to review and edit youth articles. Please send names along with a brief bio to articles@havyak.org (before 1st Feb 2019). We will notify selected youth and they get to be a part of the 2019 Souvenir committee.

Invitation to Havyaka Mothers:
We are inviting special article by Havika mothers on what to teach our children, values, rituals, habits, tradition on so on. Editors have the final decision for the selection of the articles.

Children's Painting Contest:
Please send fully original painting (not based on an existing image/paint) by children below 18 years(hetherto unpublished). Three paintings will be selected based on age groups and a prize, certificate will be awarded during the 2019 Convention.

Havyaka Song Lyrics:
We are inviting rare Havika traditional lyrics. We will select 2-3 of them based on how rare and old the melody is. Please send the lyrics along with a 30 second singing.

Rare Havyaka Words:
Please send us a list of rare havyaka words (with their meanings) out of use or almost out of use. We will try to compile and publish with due recognition to contributors.

Please consider sending greetings and advertisements in the souvenir which will reach a large number of Havyakas and friends throughout the Americas as well as India. Cultural Program Request

We request all HAA chapters & members to come forward with interesting cultural programs for the convention. In order to have interesting and fast moving programs, we have developed the following guidelines. Please fill the form to send entries (click) to haa2019cultural@gmail.com.

  1. Programs focused on Havyaka heritage and usage of Havyaka and Kannada language preferred.
  2. Indian cultural programs encouraged. For Children & Youth Western group items will be considered.
  3. Humorous items (specifically Havyaka havyasa type) are welcome.
  4. Youth involvement and participation highly encouraged
  5. Limit individual participation to a maximum of 2 programs.
  6. Group items with 4 or more people are preferred
  7. Considering nature of audience and family oriented programs, appropriate costumes expected.
  8. Time limits for programs:-   
  9.                 a. Individual presentation: 5 - 12 years: 4 minutes, 13 years + : 6 minutes 
  10.                 b. Group presentation for dance, music etc: 10 minutes. 
  11.                 c. Skit , drama etc : 20 minutes
  12. Ample green room space is available. Please consult with HAA program coordinator if there are any special requests.
  13. Completed Program Request Form to reach us by March 15th, 2019. Download Form.
  14. References to any U-tube, Video, audio etc. showing similar performances would be helpful.
  15. Due to limited time availability, we may have to restrict number of programs. Early entries will get preference.
  16. Program cancellations if any, to be made at least one month prior to the event.
  17. Audio and / or Video files should be sequenced and marked appropriately. This should be sent to the HAA program coordinator by June 30th, 2019.
  18. Participants assume full responsibility to arrange for costumes, instruments, accompaniments and any other items required for performance.
  19. The HAA Program coordinator will provide acknowledgement once the Request Form is submitted.
  20. Program confirmation and schedule will be provided as early as possible.
  21. All program submissions will be accommodated on best effort basis.
  22. Organizers reserve right to accept/decline programs to fit overall plans.
  23. All participants shall register for the convention.

Youth Programs

Let us help our Havyaka youth to network and develop with a strong cultural root. Special effort is being made to organize a youth get together just prior to the Convention on July 4 & 5th morning. This will be completely organized by youth & for youth. This will be the first time Havyaka youth are given an exclusive opportunity to network, and discus the issues facing them and come up with potential path forward. Let us encourage them and facilitate them to attend this event.
YOUTH GATHERING- ORGANIZED BY YOUTH-FOR YOUTH-Pre-HAA Convention
on July 4 & 5, 2019

Purpose: Network, Discuss issues of common interest, case Studies, Group Discussions, Indoor-Outdoor activities, Overnight stay together, Presentation at Convention
Request all Parents & Youth to respond to the attached Survey:
IN ADDITION, DURING THE CONVENTION we will have many activities for Children & Youth. Some of the activities planned are:
        • HAVYAKAs HAVE TALENT – contest
        • Children’s Creative Corner
        • Youth Symphony
        • Specific Youth segments
        • YOUTH TABLE for Dining
        • Etc.
So please bring your kids and encourage other friends to come as well.

Havyaka Exhibition

During the 2019 HAA Convention in Toronto we are organizing an EXHIBITION & PRESENTATION to showcase our Culture, history, achievements and talents. We earnestly request participation by adults, youth and children in this showcase event. We are focusing on the following aspects:

1. CREATIVE KIDS: CHILDREN & YOUTH ACHIEVEMENTS, RECOGNITIONS, TALENTS:
- Award winning science projects or projects photos by Havyaka youths
- Awards and achievements by Havyaka youths
- Paintings, Artistic Displays

2. HAVYAKA HERITAGE AND ARTIFACTS
- Household items used in Havyaka house hold of the past & present (special items only)
- Photos, Videos , Books of Havyaka history, culture
- Paintings about Havyaka heritage

3. HAVYAKA KRISHI
- HAA involvement in assisting farmers in India
- Exhibition of equipment, machinery, being developed in the west

4. AUTHORS & BOOKS by Havyaka-about Havyaka
- Exhibition of Books, in all subjects authored by Havyaka or written about Havyakas
- Book signing by Authors
- Havyaka poetries

Toronto and the convention location have many accommodation possibilities ranging from budget to five star hotels, B&Bs etc. We have made special deals and arrangements at the following facilities

Convenient public transportation is also available to reach downtown Toronto and other areas. Limited shuttle services will be arranged to the convention Hall and back on request.

3 DAYS-2 NIGHT EASTERN CANADA

Scheduled Luxury Bus trip to 1000 Islands, Ottawa (Canada’s capital), Montreal, Quebec City (European City within North America) –with 3 star Hotel accommodation, Tour Guide and leisurely travel (approx. cost: Canadian $150 to $200 per person; double occupancy Hotel room. Exact cost will depend on number of people booked). Likely to be arranged on July 1, 2 & 3.

DAY TRIP TO TORONTO CITY, NIAGARA ON THE LAKE, & NIAGARA FALLS BY DAY & NIGHT

On July 7th starting at 11 am, return by midnight. This Day trip will take you to Toronto Downtown, Niagara on the Lake and Niagara Falls both for day & night view. On July 7 overnight stay in Toronto is required. Expected cost: $50/ person –to be confirmed.
